Best Winter Practice Tips

21 Feb | 5-minute read

As I look outside writing this post, it is raining (again). It is a little depressing but I am also holding out hope that the conditions are soon going to change and the later nights are coming.

However, just because it is raining, that doesn't mean we can't work on our game. In fact, quite the opposite. It's a great time to sharpen things up so that when we can get to the course, our scores will be low.

Here are some indoor golf tips we have put together for you.

  • Putting Practice - Spend some time working on your set up and stroke. Ensure everything is online and the ball is setting off at a consistent angle. We included a Me & My Golf Putting matt in the January delivery to help.
  • Chipping - If you have a back garden or a spacious enough area indoors, you can practice chipping with foam or plastic practice golf balls. Set up targets at different distances and work on your accuracy and distance control. We provided our subscribers with a Me & My Golf net to help with this in our November drop.
  • Fitness and Flexibility - This is often an overlooked part of your game. Work on your golf-specific fitness and flexibility at home. Strengthen your core, improve your balance, and increase your flexibility with exercises targeted towards golfers. You can find many Instagram channels with excellent ideas of what to work on.

Work on these areas and it will pay dividends when we can get back on the course regularly. Improvements in your short game have the biggest impact on your handicap. That is why professionals spend so long working on it.

If you haven't got the training aids you need then consider signing up to one of our memberships. We quite often supply training aids, especially in the winter months.
